ABOUT POLYMER CLAY:
Polymer clay is a type of modeling clay based on the polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It typically contains no clay minerals, but like mineral clay a liquid is added to dry particles until it achieves gel-like working properties, and similarly, the piece is put into an oven to harden, hence its colloquial designation as clay.
After curing, polymer clay hardens into a very durable and waterproof plastic/resin material and is notably light weight.
This doesn't mean it is unbreakable though, so you should still be mindful while using it and avoid constant exposure to water and direct sunlight as that could damage the embellishments and/or the paint job. I coat each piece in a glossy glaze as well, just to give it some extra protection.
